Rules
All participates must complete a waiver of liability form. All participates in the tournament assume the risk of injury. The PSL, the Fair, Fair Board, volunteers, and employees shall not be liable for injury to persons, loss or damage to personal property arising from or in any way resulting from the participation in the tournament.
Submitting a Roster
Each team must submit a roster with a maximum of 6 players. No player may register for more that 1 team. Rosters must be submitted and a waiver form must be signed before any player may take the field. Waiver forms will be available to sign the night of the tournament. Once the rosters are finalized no changes may be made. Players that are not on your roster and signed a waiver form may not play in the tournament.
Time and Scoring Regulations
The following are highlights of the rules. In the case of a dispute, the full rules will be available at the Faribault County Fitness Center.
A Team consists of 6 players, with a minimum of 3 females. A team may start a game with a minimum 4 players, of which 2 must be female.
Matches will consist of a best 2 out of 3 team series (winning by 2 points). The first games will be played to 21. If a 3rd match is required, it will be played to 15, only the serving team can score.
Game will begin with a coin toss; the winning team will get the choice of first service or the side of net to defend in the first game. In the case of a 3rd set another coin toss will occur, team will switch sides in the third set only, after the team has scored 8 points.
At the time of service, all players must be inside the boundries of the court.
Serves my be underhand, overhand, or participants may attempt the jump service.
Blocking the serve is illegal.
A joust (ball coming to rest above the net on a block attempt) will result in a replay of the point.
Players must maintain the same service order through the match.
Serving player must remain behind the end line until the ball has been served. If player serves in the air, he/she can land on or inside the line.
A legal service must cross over the net between the poles. A legal serve can not touch the net on the way over. Ball must not touch the poles on the way over. A ball hitting poles is out of bounds.
Player contact with the net or pole are prohibited.
In blocking, a player may touch the ball beyond the net providing the he/she does not interfere with opponent’s play.
